" Most certainly there is no one else who
could see the world the way you see it "
You understand yourself in a unique manner quite different from how rest of the world understands you. In fact often you think no one understand you well. Yet there are times you have feeling that you fail to understand your own self. This quirky and slippery exclusiveness is vyashti.
Disciple : Its true I don't understand myself many times, why is it so?
Master : As vyashti, you always keep changing your individual self !
Disciple : Who do I keep changing myself always ?
Master : You don't change yourself but it gets changed by itself !
Disciple : What are the things that change in me like that ?
Master : Your moods, feelings, perceptions, beliefs and many more !
Disciple : Why they keep changing always ?
Master : Because they are relative and by nature they change !
The Two Self Phenomenon
You are a combination of two selfs. One is relative and full of changes. Another absolute and unchanging. The relative self is ego and the absolute self is consciousness. Relative self is bound by the world and many times suffer and enjoy the sequences of life in the world. Almost as if the world rules your relative self. Your understanding about you happens only through your relative self and that's why your opinions keep changing about you and others.
Disciple : How do I know the world rules my relative self ?
Master : Because when there is a traffic jam you seem to
suffer and when the traffic jam cleared you feel relieved !
Disciple : OK I understand that situations in the world decide
my disposition all the time. I change as the world changes ?
Master : Very well said !
Exclusive Version Of Life
Every one experiences life on earth day after day but rarely two people undergo them alike. Even the sadness of two people can vary in degrees. There are gradations to happiness, from screaming excitement to serene silence, which makes no two happy people same, like each member of the family watching TV react differently to the same family drama. This uniqueness of each individual is vyashti. A exclusive version of a person, despite conditioned by the same conformity of a well defined society. In vedanta it is also a ego or ahamkar which seem to suffer isolation from totality. A partial and limited vision of existence leaves this individual incomplete and unfulfilled.
Disciple : Does it mean that only change ?
Master : Everyone changes, physically, emotionally,
intellectually, socially and economically too !
Disciple : Is this really a problem ?
Master : Mostly yes because two people dont match always !
Disciple : So vyashti is problem part of me ?
Master : It is limited part of you so it can appear that way !
Many Worlds In One World
Its not just you who is exclusive but the world also appears in a particular way to each one. No two people see the world similarly. Each one lives in a world so unique and singular. Just like him his world too keep changing from his microcosmic point of view. To be trapped in this individual view point of self and world is bondage. spirituality is to find a way out of limiting self and explore the other self which is more complete and unchanging.
Disciple : Which one is better, changing self or unchanging self?
Master : If you change often people dont trust you in fact !
Disciple : And If I dont change at all then what happens ?
Master : People may get bored with you soon !
Disciple : So which one I should go for ?
Master : Both at the same time is the best way !
Disciple : How can I be both at the same time ?
Master : Coping with changes by holding on to the unchanging !
